2008

How did you get into filming?

I always tried to capture moments and loose things that happen in my life. First I started with Hi8 and Mini DV but that changed very soon and I began to film with super 8 and I started to shoot analog pictures.

What different formats have you shot during the years? What is your favorite?

A lot Digi Formats like HDV, DigiBeta, Betacam SP, DVCPRO and so on. Since RED came around with the one also 2 too 5K REDRAW. 8mm and 16mm also I had the pleasure to Shoot 35mm. I shot a lot of different formats like HDV, DigiBeta, Betacam SP, DVCPRO and so on. Since RED released the One alos RED . I shoot on 8mm and 16mm. But my favorite was 35mm, it is a great pleasure.

What is the biggest difference between shooting analog and digital?

I think how often you trigger the “red” Button. If you shoot analog you count every meter/ second, you decide closely what you are filming. You check accurately the lighting conditions; you have to trust your own experience with the only help of your photometer/ light meter. That’s a suspenseful challenge. A big advantage about the digital way is that the camera operator and also the snowboarders can see and check right at the spot the shots.

Have you shot anything besides snowboarding?

Skateboarding, commercial stuff and some short films.

Where do you find inspirations for your shots?

Everywhere, I just open my eyes.

Is there anything you want to shoot desperately besides snowboarding?

Skateboarding, surfing and hopefully a lot off documentary films.

Did you attend a school/course to learn your profession?

I went to the SAE College in Munich and worked almost 3 years at ARRI in Munich.

What do you like to do besides filming?

Skateboarding, Photography, Friends
