Mike Casanova

Who brought you into snowboarding? Have you given him any thanks for his influence?

Pa Pa Nova allowed Me to try it when I was 6. It was either one of us kids plays hockey or we all are able to ski and snowboard. Thanks Dad...

Who was your local hero?

Danna Maltby

Where and when was your first snowboardpic published? What trick was it? did you land it?

Was a photo from Jeff Potto in Transworld doing a 50-50 fs 180 in Colorado. Thanks Homie!

Where was your first video appearence with what music(local snowboardmovie...)?

Was a local shred video in Colorado called "Just Kidding...But Seriously". Believe it was some funny techno:) Thanks Homies!

How did you get your first sponsor?

I grew up with the amazing influence of Mark Williams (SPARKY) who then became the Ride snowboards rep in our area. When I turned 12 he took me under his wings and showed me the ropes. Thanks SPARKY!

Would you still ride as much as you can, if no one would support you (no sponsors, no filmers and photographers)?

If the fire still burns inside....burn with it!!! So,....yep

What is your favourite moment on the mountain?

Just before landing a trick which didnt seem possible, the...."OH SHIT,THIS IS REALLY WORKING!"

What is the worst time during the time on the mountain?

Realizing its past 3pm and youre late for Mi Casa happy hour! (Mexican restraunt....such GOOOOOOD food!!!)

How important is the time on the mountain for you?

VERY, love riding in a big group when everyone is trying tricks and feeding the stoke to learn!

How important is music for you on a snowboardmovie?

Quite important. Think music has the ability to convey certain feelings when watching that really make the viewer share what the rider thinks or just experienced. Maybe just me though...

Favourite videopart, ever:

None now, just MUCH respect to the pros filming. After this season realized the amount of work and energy that goes into making it happen, not just riding/riders, the whole crew.

Give me your percentage of importance of the following factors to go snowboarding:

Beeing in the nature:Good for the soul.....80%
Having a good time with your friends:Have to! 80%
Doing your job:maybe just me, but....100%

How did you get in contact with the PiRATE project?

Had been in Whistler 2 summers ago riding Camp Of Champions when I met quite a few of the riders, then Fabia put out a hand and welcomed me aboard with Basti and the crew. Sorry to those who may deserve much thanks, so....MUCH THANKS!!!!

How important is it for you to be a part of it?

Very, keeps me driven and inspired! The riders in the crew are AMAZING, felt out of place at first seeing who is part of it, but realized its a gift from them. Thanks Guys!!
