Who brought you into snowboarding? Have you given him any thanks for his influence?

It was actually my “skater-friends” from back then who started a year before me. They took me to a little resort called Wattenberg and it ended up being one of the worst days on the mountain I ever had. My butt and my knees were hurting so bad! It took me forever to figure it out but after a while I guess I got it. I never said thanks for introducing me to snowboarding but if any of you guys read this here… Marko Tauber, Ronald Ecker, Thomas Kluckner, Olli und Clemi Unterlechner, Clemens Lindener and Florian Erlacher thank you guys so much!

Who was your local hero?

Tom “Noodle” Recheis! Back then he was already sponsored and for sure the coolest dude in my home resort.

Where and when was your first snowboardpic published? What trick was it? did you land it?

It was 1995 in a local newspaper called R19. The trick was a front 3 indy and of course I stomped it! I remember I was so stoked and my parents were really proud of me.

Where was your first video appearence with what music(local snowboardmovie...)?

That was in movie that my friends and me did just for us. I remember we used this big VHS camera and edited it on it as well. I can’t remember the title but it was a Slayer song.

How did you get your first sponsor?

I did well at some contests and got introduced to R.IP. Dieter Schneider by Noodle who took me with him to all the comps. It was Haz-Mat boards and Yang clothing.
That was actually as well the time when I met Gigi. He was my team buddy since then. We all went shredding together to Gigi’s home resort. Good times!

Would you still ride as much as you can, if no one would support you (no sponsors, no filmers and photographers) ?

I’d obviously not have as much time for it but I would still ride as much as I could!

What is your favourite moment on the mountain?

bluebird sky – fresh powder – first line  - friends, for me that’s the ingredients a perfect moment on the mountain contains.

What is the worst time during the time on the mountain?

bad weather and icy slopes  aren’t on the list of ingredients.

How important is the time on the mountain for you?

I like the city lifestyle a lot but I could never live without mountains.

How important is music for you on a snowboardmovie?

Next to the riding the most important! The right music paired with good riding makes the difference!

Favourite videopart, ever:

There are so many parts I like but the one from Roan Rogers in “Upping The Ante” I remember the most since I watched it about a million times!
I would just watch it every time before shredding.

why?

I just liked his style a lot.

Give me your percentage of importance of the following factors to go snowboarding:

Being in the nature: 100%
Having a good time with your friends: 100%
Doing your job: usually when I do my job both of the other come along so 100%

How did you get in contact with the PiRATE project?

I met Flo and Basti who are the owners of Pirate Movie Production at the Backyard Camp up at Neuhornbach when they were working on their first movie called “Decent Frames”.

How important is it for you to be a part of it?

We’ve been friends since so I guess it’s really important.
