Fichtl down south in Chile

Fichtl_back_on_snow

Yesterday i came back from my trip to Chile! I never traveled so much around a country- like i did on this trip in chile, also i never had this kind of adventure trip!
The crew was Stephan Maurer, Eric Themel, Basti Gogl and me me plus our guide Sebastian Camus Valenzuela from Chile. We arrived on the 19th in Santiago de Chile.
Sebastian our guide picked us up from the airport and showed us the city! Later of the day we drove to Colorado to the first ski resort 1,5 hours drive from santiago! we stayed there only two days. on the first day we got super lucky with the weather and the snow, a lot of powder but super rocky and i fucked up my board super bad! on the next day a big storm came up and we decided to drive back to Santigao and organize the next stop from our road trip from Sebastian's place! We stayed for two days and the we traveled to the next ski resort (portillio) and stayed 40 min away from the ski resort because there was only one hotel and it was fully booked! The ski resort was close to the argentinian border and i never saw this kind of long track traffic jams in my whole life!

The ski area had a funny t-bar lift! They brought you up with 50 km/h- 5 peoples in a line, it was crazy! First day- perfect temperatures in the morning and around noon it got so worm that they had to close a big part of the area, it was super bad for us because there were four other crews on the mountain too! On the next day we got to the resort really early, perfect weather but the temperatures were so warm that they not opened the closed part from the last day- so we had to do some jip stuff- it was fun!
In the evening we had a little meeting what we should do and we decided to go back to santiago again! We did some more site seeing in the next days because the weather forecast was not that good up to 4000 meters around zero degrees and super dangerous. The options we had was to fly to the south for snowboarding or go to the beach for surfing! After talking with the local crews we traveled to Sebastian's beach house- we knew that the house was not finished- no toiled, no hot water, no kitchen, no bath- and when we arrived we realized that it would be the adventure part of our trip. You have to know that it was winter and super cold at night. I had to sleep on the floor on some insolation sheet because the other stuff was locked in a container!  All together we had a great time on the beach! After two days we were happy to check into a real hotel with a warm shower! Meeting again after two days in the hotel and only one week left before we would fly back home and we got not that much riding photos until that time! Sebastian came up with a plan that we should go and meet up with this guy called Cristian Wehrhahn who is running a sled operation  somewhere 1,5 hours away from Santiago ( sorry i forgot the name of the place)!
So we fixed everything with Cristian that we are coming to his spot and try to get the shots that we still needed for the story. We knew from Cristian that the house where we stayed was up on  around 2700 meters without electricity, without hot water but there would be some hot springs around the house- again adventure! We planned to stay arround 5 days up on this place and hopefully get the photos together. We knew that we had to hike to get to the sled's and bring as little as possible with us. But we also had to bring food for 5 days and for 6 people up on the mountain. I can tell you it was a hell of a hike to get to the sleds! When we arrived at the house and saw the spot where we would stay in the next days - in the beginning it was a little bit a shock for me but after some hours i realized it would be something special to stay there!
Check out the photos.. we had a perfect time up there- only one good day out of 5 days on the mountain but on this day i had so much fun on my board and we got some really good photos out of it!  After  5 days we drove back to Santiago with a smile on our faces. On next day we flew back home to europe! This trip was a great experience for me!

See you tonight at the premiere in Innsbruck at the world premiere of JollyRoger!
