If we wouldn't have done the last year's try out of the artBookShows in Barcelona and Paris, this show in Russia wouldn't have hapened. Mary from 100%Skate+Snow told me that we inspired her to organise this first skate and snowboard photo exibition in Moscow a few weeks ago.
They invited me to represent the Pirate's ArtCrew and wanted me to show my work to the Russian public. Of course, i was superstoked and honoured to be a part of this youth culture that is growing faster than anywhere else. People from all ages came by an took a look at the best photos of the past seasons, all printed in a big size and with top quality. The location was perfect for the venue and had enough space to fit the 3000 people that came by in the 3 days of the happening. A few of the visitors even came by every day to hang out for a couple of hours, float thruough the space and listen to the flamable Dj's Chagin and Vinylkin playing during the evening hours. There were many young people sucking up all the input they've been hungry for, taking photos of photos (second hand framing) and enjoying a more calm way of celebraiting our board sports.
This event motivated me a lot for the upcoming years and the projects i'm planing to do. Snowboarding culture needs a majour push up and people like Mary and Andrew that do it, because it needs to be done. Watch out for the upcoming posts on the other shows!
