Mt.Baker - Part 2
Powder Pursuit pt. 2
We didn't have to chase the snow this time, it came to us, which was very nice. Another BIG cold storm rolled in from the Gulf of Alaska and blasted us. Breaking trail into the backcountry through the meter + of fresh snow was nearly impossible. Especially if your name was Viktor who was enjoying his first day out in the US on Sani's tank of a snowmobile. A couple slednecks can be good to have around on days like this. If it wasn't for old Jim and his posse of Arctic Cats we would not have made it into the first bowl, and Juuso's truck would still be stuck in the parking lot.
It's easy to count your chickens before they hatch. We thought we were going to be slaying every spot in the area, but reality had different plans for us. The next morning the weather finally broke, but every snowmobiler in the Washington was trying to get a piece of the pie. I watched landing after landing get highmarked as we prepared our spot and prayed that ours would get left alone. As if that wasn't enough of a hassle for our one chance to really get stuff done, the wind decided to spice things up by blowing way harder than it needed to. Now it was questionable if the dudes could even jump because the wind was f$#king everything up. I thought that warm temps were going to be our worst enemy that day, but we had to battle 3 elements, the slednecks, the wind and the sun.
Things ended up working out pretty well, but as usual we had to fight for it!
