One Day in May
Despite the late date, there has been an awful lot of winter activity in the United States this week. It was tough dropping Tyler off at the airport shuttle this morning because it looked like conditions were going to jump back to January. Unfortunately, ill timed team shoots at "Superpark" sometimes take priority over powder productivity. It's not hard to understand why he had to go, but that's just not how my mama raised me! Without knowing it, Tyler did me a favor by giving me the opportunity to enjoy the snow filled space on the hill without camera luggage.
Now that lift accessed riding has ended at Mt. Baker, you have to get creative if you want to make it to the top of the mountain. Earlier this season, my friend Scott made me a split-board and it ended up being not only the perfect tool for the job, but a beautiful way to slow down the pace inside the ski resort. The empty parking lot and untracked slopes laid out before us were reminder enough that on this day in May, there was going to be no need to rush. With more snow in the forecast we might even luck into a couple days of this treatment. One thing I do know, is that I will never cease to be amazed by winter's wild ways. We're enjoying the ride!
