Scandalous double trouble

Scandalous double trouble

It’s Friday, I got my coffee cup so close that it will not take much energy to reach it, because I need it. The Swedish and Norwegian Jolly Roger premiere went down last weekend, and some of us felt a slight obligation to show up at both.  A fun and rather stupid plan thinking about the way most Scandinavians party. Two nights, two countries, two parties and way too much drink.

It all started after Haugo drove seven hours to pick me up in Oslo. I got in the car, turned on the GPS and began our drive to Gothenburg with metal blasting from the speakers. We had a quick stop at the border to pick up some cheap Swedish beers and a burger before we did our best to beat the time our GPS was suggesting as destination arrival time.

As soon as the car was parked and thus also finding our ”hotelroom” for the night, we broke out the bottles, invited a bunch of people and had a pre-party in Haugo’s car. While crappy late 90’s dance music was pumping we finished our booze and headed out to the club which was conveniently situated at the main party street of Gothenburg. We came in, were greeted by complimentary bottles of trouble, Viktor Skogqvist and a lot of smiling Swedish faces. We saw a nice local shred film as a warm up and then screened our film before we raved the rest of the night in good Swedish party style. When in Rome.

The next morning Haugo and I woke up in Kalle and his girlfriend Frida’s hotel room,  it turned out that they thought our plan of sleeping in our car was a stupid one and kindly shared their room. After a couple of hours of sobering up, Viktor, Haugo and I got back in the car and started driving back to Oslo. We had a small pit stop at the border to pick up nice and cheap Swedish beer and some burgers before we hurried back home, had a shower and then headed right back out to deliver the DVD to the bar. While the bar made sure the DVD worked, we figured out that the best way to get back in party mode was to shot-gun most of the beer we had brought along, so we did. I have to admit that our techique probably wasn’t the best, but we managed to get some of the beer in before we had to introduce the film. We had an early screening of the film, which was a nice and pleasant start to the evening before it slowly and gently rose to Oslo standard throughout the night.  So now I’m sitting her, paying for the debauchery and fearing the moment my coffee cup becomes empty and I need to get out of the couch to get a new one.

Thanks a lot to Patrik Lundin and Session for throwing sick premiere parties!
