Sweden Trip December
I left Paris on the 29th of November and took the train to Munich. Then after a quick talk with Cepten in Munchie’s office, I headed to Innsbruck with the Crv, 1h30 drive. I arrived in the Pirate’s house, Flo was waitin for me and had prepared everything for the trip. We just had one problem, one of our car had a lil accident, and that was the one that could carry the rails on the roof.
So we brainstormed a big part of the night on how we gonna get all the traveling rails equipment for doing dollie shots in Sweden.
I got back to Paris with the red Civic. So the trip had not even began and I had already done 1200kms by the road.
Panagrip/ KGS our grip rental and partner were nice enough to borrow us shorter rails, 4x1,5m rails, so they could fit in the trunk. Problem was solved…
I picked up Eric in Lille, our grip for this trip and also my best friend and began to drive toward Sweden. Tough drive, just stopping quick in Stockholm for 3 hrs sleep in the car.
We arrived in Umea one and a half day after leaving North of France.
Hans Ahlund was getting his X-mas presents ready, together with Marie.
Teo Kontinnen was also there with our Swedish filmer Viktor.
We discussed about where to go and Hans said we should head to Lulea, but on the way up, he changed his mind and we ended in Skelleftea, roughly crashing Johann Wennerstrom’s parents home(our Swedish photographer). Thanks to them, they kept us 3 days, and we were a bunch of dudes, 5. We shot a few things in Skelleftea with Teo, Hans felt his ribs hurtin, so he couldn’t ride and got back to Umea to get the new Haze collection delivered.
Then we hit the road again towards Lulea, where we met our Russian crew composed by Dimitri Fesenko, Osa and “Hussleblad” photographer Lev Maslov. We scoped around and found a few interessant spots.
The program was set for the few next days.
Hans join us with Kalle and therefore we had 2 different crew to shoot with. Shooting with the Russian crew in the afternoon, then do Scandinavian in the night. Sometime the opposite. After a few days of this ruff treatment for Viktor, Eric, me and the material, we cooled down a little. But we had a few times 17hrs/day work.
I remember an exciting session on the parking of a supermarket, where Teo had to do the grip and push the Dollie and Eric was drivin the civic cuz he was able to get better results with the car, to tow Hans and Kalle in. Sweet spot!
Teo was shootin from the beginning of the trip till the end, so I think he was “most valuable player” of this Swedish session. He for sure is the one who got the most tricks. And he improved his Swedish language skills, cuz Viktor was on his back always as a good teacher… hehe
But Kalle had a pretty good start too, he came a bit late to the shoot due to sponsors meeting, but once he was there, he was fully on.
Osa stomped tricks on a few good looking rails, one wicked nosepress to few meters drop to the stairs and did one triple kink .
Dimi did a few spots alone, city gap from a parking deck to short landing and rail to gap to rail pretty gnarly.
Unfortunately Hans hurt his ribs again after the first spot he did and couldn’t ride till the end…
On the 21st, we were all out of power, so we spent a good night sleepin after a short party in Fallun and a last spot of Kalle, and we hit the road back to France. On our way we stopped in Malmo to have a quick talk with J-Ro from “tha Alkaholics” to fix something for this year soundtrack, he now lives in south Sweden.
Then drive straight with no stop to North of France.
In and on I did 9854 kms from 1st to 23rd of December, and I still have a 1000km to bring back the Pirate ship to Innsbruck. ;)
Written at 21h30 the 31st of December, being half an hour late for dinner with friends…
Peace
